Converting Wood Trim to Painted Trim
A lot of homes in Northeast Kansas, especially those built in the 80s and 90s, have stained oak or cedar trim throughout. It was standard then. It reads dated now.
Converting to a clean painted finish is mostly a prep job. The wood has to be cleaned, sanded, and primed with a stain-blocking primer, or the tannins bleed through and the finish yellows within months.
